Sweet Songs Collection no. 27: Resilience

A program of the Post Carbon Institute, Resilience.org provides news and information on  energy, the depletion of critical resources, complex environmental crises and related social and economic issues. It also shares the creative solutions various groups and individuals have thought up or implemented to overcome these challenges.

A great one-stop way to stay informed on current initiatives, the site features articles by various experts, journalists, publications, associations and NGOs such as Yes! Magazine, the Sustainable Food Trust, Circle of Blue and others. It also publishes book reviews and links to films on relevant topics.

Sweet Songs Collection no. 23: 350.org

Founded by a group of university friends in the U.S. along with author Bill McKibben, 350.org got its name from the number indicating the highest safe level of carbon dioxyde that can be tolerated in the earth’s atmosphere.

Town Hall Meeting: Montrealers call for ambitious action at the Federal level

Montreal, May 26 2016 – More than 150 local residents, constituents, and community members packed an auditorium in Concordia University’s Hall building yesterday to demand bold action on climate change. The town hall meeting was hosted by Marc Miller, MP for Ville-Marie- Le Sud-Ouest- Ile-des-Soeurs as part of public consultation leading up to the drafting of Canada’s national climate strategy. Choice and Change: Hacking Carbon Neutral Solutions

On March 19, 2016, the Office de consultation publique de Montréal’s (OPCM) VertMTL hackathon gave creativity and entrepreneurship free reign as part of the city’s bid to reduce its carbon footprint. From measuring the environmental, social and economic impact of existing urban agriculture initiatives to long-term investments in education, by way of various transportation solutions, participants presented an impressive array of products and services, all carbon neutral life hacks that could significantly help the City reach its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
