With too many wounds
open and bleeding
I sought your warmth
and got a cold shoulder.

Seeking protection, I built a palisade.

Today you wave over the wall
the top of your dreadlocks
your elegant golden hand
bright emissaries of peace.

Brother Isaac warned too many walls, not enough bridges.

I have a sacred wing, sister,
that wants to come home to you
Shall I cross the bridge and bring it?

in-other-words

This post inspired by Patricia’s Place “We build too many…” for October 14th, 2015.

“We build too many walls and not enough bridges.”
Isaac Newton
